Pierce Lang challenges Bronte waterfront plans at Ward 1 debate
Oakville News reported that Pierce Lang used an Oct. 17 Ward 1 all-candidates debate at Eastview Public School to question Oakville’s waterfront redevelopment priorities and municipal spending. The discussion included an $8-million skating loop, a proposed urban beach and what Bronte residents want from the waterfront.
Lang said seasonal attractions should not take priority over year-round amenities. He proposed an off-leash dog park instead of the urban beach, along with a permanent police presence in Bronte and new parking facilities, including a multilevel garage in the west end.
His other proposals included graduated licensing for e-scooters, a bylaw-reporting app with video recording and improved sequencing for construction projects costing more than $600,000. Lang also said he had personally handled his campaign’s website, marketing materials, social media content and door-to-door canvassing.
