Nav Nanda to face audit of 2022 election campaign finances
Oakville News reports that Ward 7 councillor Nav Nanda will face an audit of her 2022 election campaign finances after a Sept. 11 decision by the Ontario Court of Appeal.
The court overturned a lower-court decision that had excused Nanda from the audit because the complaint came from an Oakville voter outside Ward 7. The ruling reinstated an August 2023 decision by Oakville’s independent election compliance audit committee, which found reasonable grounds to question whether Nanda accurately reported her expenses.
Nanda told Oakville News she has not received clear information about when the audit may take place or what happens next. She is seeking re-election to the Ward 7 town and regional council seat in the Oct. 26 municipal election.
