Towne Square revitalization set to start in September
Ontario Construction News reports that Oakville’s $7.5-million Towne Square revitalization is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 14, 2026, and finish by September 2027. CRCE Construction Group is the project’s general contractor.
The work will be divided into phases intended to maintain access to downtown businesses, residences and activities. Construction areas will be enclosed, with entry points, wayfinding signs and measures to manage congestion, noise and dust.
The plans include amphitheatre-style seating, a water feature, raised planters, new trees, improved landscaping, decorative lighting and accessible paving. The Millennium Tower Clock will be stored during construction and returned after the project is complete. A construction pause is tentatively planned for November 2026, with work expected to resume in the first quarter of 2027, weather permitting.

Oakville expands e-scooter information as use increases
Oakville News reports that the Town has increased public information efforts as e-scooter use grows. Oakville has launched an information website and says e-scooters are currently prohibited in the town.
Under Ontario rules described in the report, riders under 16 cannot use e-scooters, while 16- and 17-year-olds must wear helmets. E-scooters are also not permitted on Oakville public rights-of-way or in municipal parks, including Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park and Coronation Park.
Halton Regional Police say they are responding to public questions and working to educate riders about safety and legal responsibilities. The report says enforcement is difficult, including because determining a rider’s age can be challenging without identification.
